Our Story

More than four decades of village life.

Tullyallen Community Centre has been at the heart of village life for more than four decades — from a modest local build in the 1970s to a fully refurbished modern hub in 2025.

Late 1970s

A place of our own

Tullyallen Community Centre has been at the heart of village life for more than four decades. Built in the late 1970s, the centre was established through the dedication of local residents who recognised the need for a shared space where the community could gather, learn, and celebrate together. From its earliest days, the centre served as a hub for social events, meetings, youth activities, and local initiatives, becoming a cornerstone of community life in Tullyallen and the wider Boyne Valley area.

1980s – 2000s

A cornerstone of parish life

Throughout three decades, the centre supported a wide range of local organisations, including Glen Emmets GFC, Tullyallen National School, Active Retirement groups, Macra na Feirme, Men’s Shed, Tidy Towns, and parish organisations. Its multipurpose hall and meeting spaces provided an accessible venue for sports, cultural activities, educational programmes, and community celebrations. Generations of local families have used the centre, making it a familiar and trusted part of village life.

Early 2020s

Time for a refresh

The building, now over forty years old, required significant refurbishment to meet modern standards and continue serving the community effectively. The committee, backed by years of local fundraising, began the search for the funding needed to bring the centre up to date.

2023

€225,000 funding secured

Tullyallen Community Centre secured €225,000 in funding through the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Town and Village Renewal Scheme, marking a major milestone in its history. This achievement was made possible through years of local fundraising, generous contributions from residents and businesses, and the support of local representatives.

March – August 2025

The refurbishment

The refurbishment project, includes extensive interior upgrades, retrofitting, and modernisation of facilities. These improvements ensure the centre remains safe, accessible, and equipped to support a growing range of activities for all ages. The redevelopment is part of the broader “Access The Glen – Tullyallen Community Hub” initiative, reflecting the community’s commitment to enhancing local amenities and strengthening social connection.

September 2025

A new chapter begins

The newly refurbished Tullyallen Community Centre will be officially reopened in September 2025, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its long-standing service to the village. As it enters this next phase, the centre continues to honour its original purpose: providing a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant space where the people of Tullyallen can come together, participate, and thrive.
